Description
Fast Telephoto Versatility with Cinematic Arles Character
The DZOFilm Arles Zoom 65-180mm T2.6 FF Cine Lens combines versatile telephoto coverage with a constant T2.6 aperture and the distinctive cinematic character of the Arles series. Designed for full-frame and large-format cinema cameras, this 2.8x parfocal zoom covers an extensive 65-180mm focal range while maintaining consistent exposure and focus throughout the zoom. Its painterly rendering, warm natural colour reproduction, soft bokeh and controlled flare characteristics give filmmakers a refined cinematic look, while professional 0.8 MOD gearing, 270° focus rotation and interchangeable ARRI PL/Canon EF mounting provide the mechanical precision required for professional production.
Constant T2.6 Aperture Across the Entire Zoom Range
The Arles 65-180mm maintains a fast T2.6 maximum aperture throughout its entire focal range, allowing filmmakers to maintain consistent exposure and depth of field while zooming. This is particularly valuable for controlled zoom movements, where changes in aperture would otherwise affect exposure and the visual character of the shot.
The T2.6 aperture also provides useful low-light capability and enables shallow depth of field at longer focal lengths. At 180mm, the lens can produce strong subject isolation and compression, making it particularly effective for portraits, dialogue, wildlife, sports, events and cinematic detail shots.
2.8x Parfocal Telephoto Zoom
Covering 65mm through 180mm, this 2.8x telephoto zoom provides a highly useful range for medium-to-long focal length cinematography. Its parfocal optical design maintains focus while zooming, allowing filmmakers to execute controlled zooms without the subject drifting out of focus.
The lens offers a minimum focus distance of approximately 0.89m (2.9 ft.), providing additional flexibility for close-up compositions. Maximum magnification reaches approximately 0.22x at the telephoto end, allowing the lens to capture detailed subject shots without requiring excessive camera-to-subject distance.
When paired with the Arles 25-75mm T2.6 FF Zoom, the two lenses provide overlapping coverage from 25mm through 180mm, allowing productions to cover a broad focal range while maintaining a consistent optical and mechanical design.
Painterly Rendering with Rich, Natural Colour
Like the Arles prime lenses, the Arles 65-180mm is designed to produce a distinctive cinematic image with a balance of modern optical performance and organic character.
A custom low-saturation blue coating helps control flare and ghosting while contributing to the lens’s characteristic rendering. The Arles optical design produces warm, natural colour reproduction and pleasing skin tones, making the lens suitable for narrative productions, commercials, music videos, documentaries and other projects where a refined cinematic appearance is desired.
Full-Frame Coverage and 8K-Ready Optical Performance
The lens provides full-frame coverage with an image circle of approximately 43.5mm, making it suitable for large-format cinema cameras and modern full-frame imaging systems.
Its optical construction uses 20 elements in 8 groups, incorporating high-grade ED and HRI optical elements to help maintain resolution while controlling chromatic aberration and other optical imperfections. DZOFilm designed the Arles Zoom system with sufficient resolving power for high-resolution cinema workflows, including 8K capture.
Interchangeable ARRI PL and Canon EF Mounts
The lens features an interchangeable mounting system, supplied with an ARRI PL mount and Canon EF mount, giving productions flexibility across a wide range of cinema camera platforms.
The short rear flange design also allows the lens to be adapted to additional mirrorless systems using compatible DZOFilm adapters, including Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon Z, FUJIFILM X, L-Mount and DJI systems.
Compact and Lightweight for Mobile Cinema Production
Despite its 65-180mm focal range and constant T2.6 aperture, the lens maintains a relatively compact form factor. It weighs approximately 1.78 kg and measures approximately 190.8mm in PL configuration or 198.1mm with the EF mount.
The manageable size and weight make it suitable for a range of production configurations, including handheld rigs, shoulder-mounted cameras, gimbals and drones. Its consistent physical design with the Arles 25-75mm also makes lens changes more efficient when using matte boxes and motorized lens-control systems.
Consistent Arles Zoom System
The Arles 65-180mm forms the telephoto component of DZOFilm’s Arles Zoom system alongside the Arles 25-75mm T2.6 FF Zoom. Both lenses share the same constant T2.6 aperture, full-frame coverage, 95mm front diameter, 0.8 MOD gearing, 270° focus rotation and 16-blade iris.
Together, the two lenses provide overlapping coverage from 25mm to 180mm, allowing cinematographers to move between wide, standard, portrait and telephoto perspectives while maintaining a consistent visual character and production workflow.
