The Atomos Shinobi 7 RX is a high-performance 7-inch monitor that bridges the gap between traditional on-camera monitoring and professional wireless video systems. Building on the foundation of the original Shinobi 7, the RX model integrates a built-in wireless receiver, allowing it to function as a lightweight, super-bright director’s monitor or focus puller’s display without the need for external receivers or messy cabling. With its 2200-nit daylight-viewable screen and advanced AtomOS 11 toolset, it provides a complete monitoring solution for high-end cinema and broadcast productions.
Integrated Wireless Ecosystem
The standout feature of the Shinobi 7 RX is its built-in 5GHz Wi-Fi 6E receiver, which is designed to pair seamlessly with the Atomos TX wireless transmitter. This allows the monitor to receive uncompressed-quality video signals (up to 4Kp30 or 1080p60) from a distance of up to 300 meters (1,000 feet) with an ultra-low latency of less than 60ms. Because one Atomos TX can transmit to up to four RX units simultaneously, it is an ideal solution for multi-crew sets where the director, client, and focus puller each require a dedicated, wire-free view of the action.
Daylight-Viewable 2200-Nit HDR Display
Engineered for use in the most challenging lighting conditions, the Shinobi 7 RX features a calibrated peak brightness of 2200 nits. This eliminates the need for a sunhood, allowing for clear image assessment even in direct midday sun. The 1920 x 1200 IPS touchscreen provides 10+ stops of dynamic range in real-time from Log/PQ/HLG signals. It also supports 10-bit color (8+2 FRC) and covers 100% of the Rec.709 color gamut, ensuring that your monitoring experience matches the high-quality output of your camera’s sensor.
Camera Control and “Touch to Focus”
Beyond monitoring, the Shinobi 7 RX acts as a command center for your camera. Utilizing the same advanced USB-C camera control interface found in the Shinobi II, you can adjust critical exposure settings—including aperture, shutter speed, and ISO—directly from the touchscreen. For supported mirrorless models from Sony, Canon, Panasonic, and Fujifilm, the monitor also supports “Touch to Focus,” allowing you to shift focus points with a single tap on the 7-inch display. This functionality is also extended to Z CAM E2 series cameras via an optional serial cable.
Professional HDMI/SDI Connectivity
The Shinobi 7 RX is built for versatility in wired environments as well. It features both HDMI 2.0 and 3G-SDI inputs and outputs, supporting cross-conversion. This means you can take an HDMI signal from a mirrorless camera and output it via SDI to a wireless transmitter or a secondary broadcast monitor. The device also supports up to 8-channel embedded audio via HDMI and 12-channel via SDI, with a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack for critical audio monitoring on set.
