Building on the success of the original 26-inch Lantern, this larger version provides an even greater surface area for a softer quality of light, making it an essential tool for narrative filmmakers, commercial videographers, and portrait photographers. Whether used as an overhead “space light” for ambient fill or a quick key light for run-and-gun interviews, the Lantern 90 delivers professional, high-output diffusion with minimal setup time.
Massive Surface Area and 270° Beam Angle
With its massive 90cm diameter, the Lantern 90 provides significantly more diffusion than standard softboxes, allowing light to fall off gradually and naturally across your subject. Its spherical design creates a nearly 360-degree spread of light, but when mounted on a fixture, it utilizes a 270-degree beam angle to fill an entire room with soft, volumetric light. This is particularly effective for mimicking natural window light or providing a base level of illumination on large sets without the harsh shadows typically associated with point-source LEDs.
Precise Light Shaping with the Control Skirt
While the Lantern 90 is designed to throw light in all directions, it doesn’t sacrifice control. It includes a unique, four-section fabric light control skirt that attaches via a secure hook-and-loop system. By rolling these sections up or down, you can precisely flag the light to prevent spill on backgrounds, create a high-contrast “top-down” pool of light, or direct the output toward a specific area of your scene. This versatility allows you to switch from an open ambient fill to a moody, directed key light in seconds.

It utilizes a tension-based quick-release frame that allows you to pop the entire modifier open or collapse it down in under 60 seconds. Unlike traditional softboxes that require individual rods to be threaded, the Lantern 90’s spring cage design remains integrated, making it one of the fastest modifiers to deploy.
