Shooting Portraits With the Sony 400mm f/2.8 Master Lens
Portrait photographer Miguel Quiles got his hands on one of the few Sony FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS lenses. This kind of lens would usually interest wildlife and sports photographers, but Miguel wanted to see what this super telephoto lens could do when used for fashion and beauty.
"When Sony announced the 400mm f/2.8 G Master lens, many of my sports and wildlife photographer friends were excited to add this lens to their kit. As a portrait photographer myself, I was curious to see what a lens like this could do when used for shooting fashion, beauty, and portrait work." Says Miguel in his Fstoppers review.
Miguel hit the streets of Brooklyn with a Sony a7R III. The first thing he found about the lens, is how surprisingly comfortable the lens was to hold, although, for longer shoots you would definitely need some kind of stabilisation system (Miguel only shot for approximately15 minutes.) At a variety of distances, the resulting images were super sharp.
