Successful Youtuber Joi Wade has produced, filmed, and edited over 200 videos for her channel of over 75 000 subscribers.

Creating YouTube content for five years, Joi finds the best quality videos are the ones filmed at her home studio.

“I mainly produce tutorial and advice videos where I am talking directly to the camera. For these, I love to film with my Savage Universal seamless paper backdrops, which come in a variety of colours.” Says Joi in her article for Savage Universal.

Joi attests that the key to growing in subscribers is to have great quality videos. There are a few items to make sure you have in your at-home video studio set up to ensure you are uploading great quality content:

1. Seamless paper backdrops

Seamless paper will provide sleek and bright background options for your videos. The paper is extremely easy to set up and will not have wrinkles like a fabric backdrop would.

2. Backdrop stand

To hold up your seamless paper backdrops, you will need a stand. Some influencers choose to cut their seamless paper and tape it to the wall, however, Joi believes a stand allows for easy setup and takedown when you want to change the colour of your backdrop.

3. Lighting

One critical component to your at-home YouTube studio is having great lighting to illuminate your backdrop and your face. Joi uses a ring light which is a great starting point, as you only have to get one light instead of multiple.

4. Camera

Joi says as you get more serious about your channel, you will start to want better camera equipment. She started off using a webcam and family-owned point and shoot, then got an affordable DSLR. Currently, she is using a Panasonic GH4 mirrorless camera.

5. Microphone

Most cameras do not have the ideal in-camera audio. Joi's suggests connecting a microphone to your camera’s audio port. She personally loves RODE microphones.

With this simple and affordable at home video studio, you will be able to take your video content to the next level with well-lit footage shot on professional backdrops.
