Canon officially announced the EOS RP, their smallest and lightest Full-Frame EOS, and little brother to the EOS R. This entry-level camera is aimed at the more mainstream prosumers and enthusiasts, as well as those looking for a way to enter into Canon’s Full Frame Mirrorless ecosystem without blowing the budget.

Ideal for travel, landscape, portrait photography, vlogging and videography, the EOS RP is practical and easy to use. Combine this with its impressive image quality, and you’ve got a winning formula.

The EOS RP’s  26.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, backed by the same DIGIC 8 image processor, offers the ideal balance of detail, control over depth of field and incredible low light shooting performance. The sensor features an ISO range of 100-40000 (expandable to 50-102400). Working alongside the powerful Dual Pixel CMOS AF system, this means that the EOS RP is optimised for low light conditions, with a shooting capability down to -5 EV.

The EOS RP can acquire focus in as little as 0.05 seconds using Canon's impressive Dual Pixel CMOS AF. Both face and eye detection are also present.

The camera offers a powerful Dual Sensing IS system that reduces camera shake for handheld photography, and a silent shooting scene mode for discreet shooting. Continuous shooting speed is 5fps, and it features a single SD UHS-II memory card slot.

The EOS RP features a 0.39-inch, 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder. Below the EVF is a 3-inch, 1.04-million-dot Vari-angle LCD touchscreen.

You’ll find that the EOS RP has the familiar handling of Canon’s EOS system, making it easy and comfortable to use. The customisable controls, scene modes and a graphical menu interface is adaptable to any skill level.

Video-wise, the EOS RP shoots 4K 25fps at 120Mb/s with 8-bit colour depth for both internal recording and with an external recorder.

The EOS RP is compatible the complete line up of RF lenses and existing Canon EF lenses with the use of an RF EOS-R Mount Adapters.
